Choosing the Best Webhost

When I first started having my online journal I just created mine on a free hosted site and enjoyed the first few months without bothering to get my own domain site. I learned and enjoyed blogging too much that when my friend suggested that I buy a domain name for my site I immediately checked my first name if it could be my first domain name. I was lucky that my name is not ordinary that I got my very first domain name. There are things that I considered before making that step as there are few important points that we need to think before we build our own website. We need to think of our blog title, layout, content, domain name and website hosting that will give us the necessary requirements for our blog.

Choosing the best website host for your blog is not that easy as you also have to learn the features and capabilities of the web host you’ve picked. Well for me I read reviews and look at the list of the top ten web hosts before picking the best host for me. When I read GoDaddy Review I was glad to find that they offer an affordable and high quality web hosting. Not only that they have user friendly tools to guide and help the users manage their sites but they also provide affordability, reliability, features, bandwidth, good technical support and customer service. Actually now I have two of my blogs hosted by GoDaddy and I never had a problem with them. Just browse through their site and see various plans and packages that will surely fit your requirements.

Heading Off to Our Summer Camp

As I'm writing this we're getting ready for our travel to Tagaytay City for our December camp meeting 4-day fellowship service. It's not actually in Tagaytay City but very near this town - in Indang, Cavite. We'll be staying in Villa Dominga Forest Resort and we'll be sleeping on tents. In an hour or so we'll finish packing up our bags to our car and start the long travel up South. To my ec friends I hope to drop by your sites on Monday when we come back here in Metro. I wish you all peace, love and happiness on the coming holidays.

My Birthday

It's my birthday today and I'm having this post so late in the night because I had a birthday leave off blogging the whole day! I just had a simple very early morning birthday with DH, my 3 kids and my family. My brother, his wife and his kids came around 10am and enjoyed the day eating and playing with their cousins. Josh and Mat were always like inseparable when they meet and play. They're so hyper also that they seem to dominate the whole house but they're cute just the same lol! My wish? DH and kids asked me when I blew my candle. I just thanked God for a good life and loving family and I asked for continuous love, happiness and good health for all of us.

Missing My Visits

Holiday season is greatly affecting my planned schedule and I can’t help it. I’ve been away from my work for three days now. I had a memorable grand alumni reunion last Saturday where I was assigned at reception and photo booth with 3 high school friends including JennyL. We were required to be early so I decided not to do any work but to check my emails for any emergencies or important letters. I missed my blog hopping and ec dropping and I hope my visitors won’t get mad at my non-responsive blog, I just can’t fit it in my schedule. Although this work-at-home job is really giving me good compensation I can never miss special occasions like that including my Sunday fellowship service.

Today is my birthday leave so I guess I’ll just make up for my absences tomorrow because few days from now we’ll be heading for the highlands of Tagaytay and Indang, Cavite for a four-day camp fellowship service and I’m sure I’ll be missing my visits again. Well it’s a holiday and we can’t have normal schedule and activities on seasons like these. Please bear with me guys! Call it birthday present :-)

Friday Fill-ins #155

1. No, we will NOT having grand Christmas vacation but instead we'll go to a villa forest resort for a four-day camp meeting fellowship for the holidays.
2. I love having coffee at the old kitchen table.
3. I watched the steam rising from the hot cup of coffee (or tea) and thought: This will gonna be a relaxing day for me free of stress and work deadlines
4. I know everything is going to be okay as long as we care for each other.
5. I'll take care of your remembrance gifts to me.
6. It's only fair to give them their dues at least from my point of view.
7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to finishing my house chores, tomorrow my plans include meeting up my high school friends at our Grand Alumni and Sunday, I want to check my brother's car for our travel next week!

Changes in Budgetary Expenses

Time flies so fast and another year will soon be on its way. Come next year we’re readying ourselves for our dear daughter’s primary graduation on March and her entry on a Christian high school that we’ve selected for her. There’s so much to prepare and save for especially that her school fees are a lot higher than now. Our youngest will also graduate from preparatory school and will enroll in another school for primary education but with just a little increase in tuition fee.

As early as now DH and I are planning our financial expenses to cover all major changes in our budgetary allocation. It’s better to plan ahead of time so we’ll not be caught unprepared. Just like preparing ourselves for a cheaper car insurance on March in time for our car’s registration too. I know we can handle our financial income properly if we will have our list of things that we should prioritize.

How Much Do You Love the Holidays?

You Like the Holidays

You definitely have a good time during the holidays, but you aren't obsessed with them or anything.
You shop for a few presents and participate in a few traditions... but that's it!

You may be accused of being a grinch, but you're simply not a fanatic about holiday traditions - especially commercial ones.
You get into the spirit of the season by being kind, compassionate, and not clogging up the stores!

Just had a test on this one if I make sense at all on holidays! I'm amused that it fits 98% to my real personality. If you want to join the fun try this one!

:Today's Flowers #70 - Zinnia

Click the image to enlarge

This beautiful vivid flower has caught my attention while joining the student's parade last July for a nutrition week awareness program. It's color is very inviting that I silently fall off the line, took out my camera and shot as fast as I could, no sweat! I'm lucky that I was able to get a decent shot or I can call a nice one since I also capture the shadows on the flowers. It was mid morning and the sun was not that prevalent, just the simple sun shine. The name of this one,hmm I think this is zinnia, am I right?

Happy Monday! Visit more beautiful flowers at Today's Flower => here.

Education By Home Schooling

I just watched documentary news about children living in the mountains and walking almost halfway just to attend classes in the lower lands. It’s their will to study that’s giving them energy to walk miles and miles of mountainous road. It’s a pity that some students who were given the chance to study in famous schools were sometimes lazy to study and repeat their grade year level because they can’t pass the standards of the curriculum. Sometimes poverty leads the way for poor children to strive harder for a good future. They know that education can change their lives for the better so they’re doing all things just to make learning and education not just a dream to them but a reality as well.

Giving importance to education is a good goal in life and even if circumstances make it impossible for us to study we must find some ways to reach our dream to graduate and be qualified to any job that we like to have. There are many things that hinder other people to study. The most common is financial capability to support education which can be solved by applying for scholarships or enrolling in government schools. Some have difficulty in their intellectual level but this can also be remedied by full attention and support by parents. There are other reasons which cause others to be under educated but if you strive hard to make these hindrances solved there are always solutions for them.

What about if you have financial capability and good intellectual level but can study only on homeschooling setup? Now it’s not a problem anymore as there are many ways you can study in the comfort and convenience of your home. It will not only save you time and effort on traveling to school but money as well as transportation expenses will be saved. With Global Student Network who offers an affordable curriculum online for Grades 2-12 education can be achieved even for those who can’t study on regular schools. Even if it offers studying through internet access it has the most cost effective and complete curriculum with wide variety of over 90 courses.

Students enrolling in these courses need not worry about accreditation as it conforms to national curriculum standards and updated currently. This homeschooling curriculum is also used presently in 250 school districts offering online education and has been proven to be easily adaptable and customized for homeschool students. Education has really gone so far as reaching the home based people who want to learn and study. With this kind of schooling your dream can never be too far from reality.

Healthy Diet

My Mom commented on me that she noticed my big tummy is decreasing slowly. I was happy that since I disciplined myself on eating plenty of fruits everyday I began to lose weight. Of course it’s not that rapid because if you‘re dieting the healthy way you’ll lose pounds slowly. For me it’s more acceptable as it’s safer that way and less expensive than taking slim pills. When I gained weight after resigning from office and started working at home I thought I’ll need those pills. I was just lucky that I discovered a healthier food plan that I was spared from taking them.

:Thursday Challenge - Writing

"WRITING"
(Pens, Paper, Words, Signs, Graffiti, Books, Magazines,...)

I've picked a mini library for this week's theme as it contains everything like words, signs, books, magazines, paper, etc. What I like best in this library are the murals at the top showing all subjects being studied in the school like English, Math, Science and more. Al subjects are there surrounding the room. I love also the drawing saying 'Reading is Fun' which encourages young students to make reading not only a must in studying but a hobby as well. At the side of it there's a painting of a man carrying heavy load of books. I just find this library an attractive one for the kids.

Securing Confidential Data

I’ve worked with telecommunications company for six years and we have confidential data and software that needs security. The company limited the passwords to managers and officers like me. I was very careful with my files and I always see to it that every confidential thing I handle was properly secured.

Our company deals with major files that can’t be lost on power outages, storm or network hackers. And since they can’t afford to lose important data that’s why they hired data center services like server collocation and system monitoring for safety and convenience. It’s better to be safe than sorry, don’t you think?

Girl Scouting at SM City

Ruth and Gen went to SM city in Marikina last Nov. 28 with their schoolmates and teachers alone without me (their stage Mom). It's the first time that they went to an outdoor activity without me. I planned to follow them but I can't leave Josh who has a slight fever then. Yes that's the reason they attended their GS activity outside school without me. I felt uncomfortable and slightly worried and it seems that it's me who only felt that way as my girls Ruth and Gen enjoyed their activity and strolled in the mall with their teachers behind.

We' re supposed to have lunch there but Josh can't make it so I just stayed with him. I'm relieved that they brought a mobile phone with them so I've monitored their whereabouts. I was glad to lend my mobile phone to Ruth as I had chances of calling them and instructing them what to do. I made sure that I know the teachers who were with them for safety purposes. They arrived home safely and I’m relieved!

Bring Back Romance on Your Vacation

Love begins intensely when you’re young and they say it will not stay that deep when you get old and married for several years. That’s not applicable to all as some retains the romance in their relationship. What’s the secret? It’s not magic but a lot of caring and understanding. It’s hard to understand everything but a little effort to do it counts a lot. You see when you understand the feelings of your loved ones you tend to accept the little imperfections of each other and always have room for forgiveness.

My former lady boss has an advice for me and my other co-employees who were also newly married then. She advised us that romance in a relationship stays when you think of each other as when you were just dating each other and that even couples were married for several years they should make an effort to let their partner know how much they love each other. They should do this by spending their time with each other once in a week or in a month having dinner or go somewhere where they can spend vacation just for the two of them.

Couples tend to spend all their time at work and with kids that they don’t have quality hours to talk, share ideas or just simply enjoy time with each other. Well if you really want to stay as long as your golden anniversary or even longer than that you should try to plan a yearly vacation for two in one of your favorite places or if you want a real good relaxing place you can go to a romantic vacation riviera maya where you can surely bring back romance in your relationship. Well why not if you’ll spend a week or two with each other on a lovely white-sand beach vacation house with luxurious accommodations, good entertainment, fine dining experience, spa treatments and more. That’s definitely a romantic vacation!

Wonders of Lasik Surgery

My sis and I are both wearing eyeglasses but it’s me who wears them since college. She’s luckier as she only has astigmatism and now she finds it comfortable to wear contact lens rather than eyeglasses. We’re completely different as I find it hard wearing them and removing them when you fall asleep when you’re in travel and cleaning them at night. Oh well maybe there’s a kind that’s very easy to use but now I prefer to wear eyeglasses as I don’t feel uncomfortable with it. I think wearing them for several years now makes me get accustomed to it. Lucky for me as other people really has a hard time with wearing eyeglasses, some even said that it would make you look older. Just don’t care about it as being young for me is within your heart.

Anyway even if I’m accustomed to my nearsightedness problem I sometimes find it hard dealing with some of its disadvantages like wearing eyeglasses when I’m playing some of my favorite sports or you always need to wear them when you’re looking from afar. I envy those people who have a 20/20 vision as they can do everything they want without fear of getting blurred vision. When I accompanied Mom to her eye specialist for her cataract operation I learned about the latest innovation in eye problem and that’s the treatment of nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism through lasik eye surgery which is being used nowadays.

There are clinics who do this kind of procedure like Lasik Surgery Boston which provides services for an all-laser lasik procedure to correct the exact vision needs of your eyes. This is where modern technology and science helps human as the results are just amazing. I couldn’t find a much better word than that because it’s really amazing. Imagine getting the chance to having a 20/20 or better eye vision again! I would certainly love that! That’s the perfect solution for those people with eye problems on blurred vision. Need not worry about the procedure as its safe, painless and quick.

Perfect Gift for Sporty Kids

As the most celebrated holiday season of the year is just a few weeks left I’m sure many of us have completed their list of gifts for their family and friends. Most of the shoppers are doing some canvassing and searching for the best gift ideas before they venture on a shopping spree because it’s easier to buy things which you know the price instead of just picking up the gifts without knowing how much it will cost.

For smart shoppers it’s always fun to have discounts and bargains. Anyway if you’re thinking of nice gifts for the kids especially if he’s a sporty one you can give NFL Jerseys to make them really excited over your gifts. Just make sure you know his favorite team so he can really appreciate the thought. And if you want them to enjoy the jerseys like his favorite players you might as well complete the set.

Btw each set of Franklin Sports’ NFL uniform includes 100% double knit polyester team jersey, 100% double knit polyester pants, NFL helmet with logo, foam padding, adjustable chin traps and face mask. He can choose the number that he wants to iron on his shirt, isn’t it great? This is good for kids 4-7 for small size and 7-10 for medium size. Order them now at www.nfluniformset.com for only $39.99.

:Thursday Challenge - "Energy"

"ENERGY"
(Batteries, Power, Electrical Devices, Light Bulbs,
Energy Efficient Things, Wind Mills, Walking, Cycling,...)

I've picked the Light Bulbs under the fountain waters as my entry for this week's theme of energy. I'm very fond of watching fountains and have collected different pictures from visiting them. This is the fountain in one of the grand malls in our place and this shot was taken five days after the big flood submerged our town deeply up to shoulders, much deeper in some areas. Anyway we were there to buy some food because the small stores in the town had a food shortage and my kids wanted real foods other than canned ones. Luckily this fountain was not affected by the food. It's still beautiful and grand as ever.

Martha Stewart’s Floral Designs

My Mom loves flowers and she always wanted fresh flowers on her table. It makes her smile seeing flowers around her that’s why I bought some young flowering plants for her to take care of. It’s just sad that the big flood almost damaged some of them. Now we’re recovering most of her flowering plants and just few days ago some of them are showing buds already. I’m planning to buy her another set of flowers on pots so she can arrange them again in rows. She really likes to grow plants and flowers even though she’s old already because it makes her happy somehow. Of all her 3 children I think I’m the one who took after her flair for flowers. Actually I even joined a weekly photo meme for flowers where I post all my collection of flower snapshots.

Almost all people like flowers and it can be used on many occasions such as wedding, graduation, baptism, house blessing and some other occasions. It can be a gift for birthday, anniversary and when a man courts a woman. It can brighten your day when you’re sick and can make you happy when you’re sad. It can express your gratitude over good things and a way of expressing your love to special people in your life.

There are many ways that you can use flowers like using it as decors on Christmas and thanksgiving. Now you also order it online and have it sent to someone you love. With Martha Stewart beautiful and unique floral designs you can be assured that you’re giving the best flowers ever. Ordering is easy as you’ll only have to select by holidays or occasions, product type, flower type, color, plant type, delivery date and by price. You don’t have to go out of your house to choose and order flowers for delivery as you can have it all done in your own home.

:Today's Flowers #67 - Fire Tree

Click the image to enlarge

People called this one the fire tree because of the color of its blooms which is orange. When the tree is filled with orange blooms and you look from afar it's very beautiful and so bright just like fire. I had this shot when I'm having my Mom checked by his eye doctor near Municipal Hall of our town. It's located at the back and I think its beauty is wasted there, it should have been at the front with its majestic color to lighten up the area. Just click the image to see the full beauty as I was not able to take a macro shot of the flowers because it's too high for me :-)

:PH#187 Bird(s)

Click images for a larger view

This is a shot taken from Josh' educational tour in Bioresearch, ParaƱaque. Philippines. It's hard to take a good shot of them as they were in a cage, I had to put the lens inside the wire to have a decent shot. Anyway I really love seeing parrots and their vivid colors which are usually green. To familiarize yourself with some info on this bird please read below details I got from Wikipedia.org

Parrots, also known as psittacines are found in most warm and tropical regions. Characteristic features of parrots include a strong curved bill, an upright stance, strong legs, and clawed zygodactyl feet. Most parrots are predominantly green, with other bright colors, and some species are multi-colored. The most important components of most parrots' diets are seeds, nuts, fruit, buds and other plant material. Parrots are one of the most intelligent birds, and the ability of some parrot species to imitate human voices enhances their popularity as pets.

Casual Wear for Me

As I’m now working in the comfort of my home I’ve changed half of my wardrobe, bags and shoes. At first I find it difficult to look for clothes to wear when I go out of the house. Majority of my things were bought for my office work so I find it awkward to use some of it when I go to the bank, school and wherever I go. Some of my blouses are too formal and comfortable only on air-conditioned rooms while my shoes are more or less closed shoes, I don’t wear open toes in office. Since I started working at home I bought some pieces of comfortable casual tops, casual bags and shoes to match these casual things. Now I need to add some slippers and sandals just like Naot sandals which I saw when I was shopping online. I need to look casual because I always feel overdressed on school occasions and meetings

How Do I Tell the Truth

This question intrigues me as to what this test might open up on my personality. I grew up being honest and open but I sometimes regret it because it makes me so fragile. I can't do something about it because it's the real me. Now when I tried answering the quiz it matched perfectly with what I'm expecting. You can try this one out also and see for yourself who's the real you :-) Well it's just a quiz nothing serious! Look at my results:

You Are Honest and Open

You are a very honest person, yet you somehow avoid being brutally honest with people.
You know that the truth often does hurt, so you try to cushion the blow as much as possible. And because of your approach, people do appreciate your honesty.

You're the type of person who complements before you criticize. You try to put the truth in perspective and make it seem not so dire.
And whenever you're stating your opinion, you make it clear that it's just that ... your point of view. You can only speak your own personal truth.

Scheduling My Tasks Ahead

I started my chores early in the morning today as I need to do plenty of online tasks. I don’t have due tasks for this day but I promised myself to do my work ahead of time to avoid rushing. I had a 10 year experience of working in a team of bidding proposals and we always have to work overnight just to finish our proposal and submit it on time. My senior boss used to work on his best with nerve shattering deadlines that I became immune with overworked and working without sleeping for three straight days.

Now that I’m working at home I can plan my work even on busy household days. I see to it that I have time for everything – for my family, my house responsibilities, my hobbies which are cooking and blogging and for my online works. Right now I’m cooking our dinner and looking over those Hudson jeans my cousin is talking about. It’s hard to do multi-tasking jobs especially when you’re cooking, it makes me forgot some spices.

Working on Something New

I’m working on my new blog and I’m so amazed how time flies so fast, imagine it took me hours just to decide on the template, choose and fix header to match the template and decide on the blog description. After more than an hour of choosing and fixing template and header I then worked on the settings and layout including cbox, feedjit, mybloglog and many others. It’s really hard to start another blog again but what can I do? I feel like I’m bursting with ideas again and this time for a shopping, techie stuff and tips’ blog. I’m in the mood now for starting a new blog, well a different kind from my usual blogs. It’s taking my time from my online tasks and I always have to work overtime in the evening to cope with my work. I just hope it’ll be ready next week for visitors and traffic.

Fruits of Hard Work

I had quite a tight schedule for two weeks that I often do my online works late at night or until dawn. Sometimes I’ll rest for about two hours before waking up again for my kids’ breakfast and packed lunch. I’m just lucky that my face didn’t suffer from acne through consistent overnight blogging or I’ll need some acne treatment to treat them. I’m also glad that I’m not working anymore in my regular work because for sure I will not be able to cope up with online and offline tasks. At least here in my work-at-home job I will earn big if I work hard unlike the regular office works which limits your earning abilities. I’ve worked hard and did multi-tasking jobs but never earned what I think is appropriate for me. Although it’s a major decision to quit a very stable job I was glad that I’ve made my decision sooner because opportunities are flooding now.

Vacation Plans on Holiday Seasons

I’ve been reading and visiting sites and I learned that many of them are planning to go on a vacation or returning to home country. Here there are many promotional sales on ticket for a travel to Cebu, Davao, Bohol, Boracay, etc. You need to be very fast in reserving online to be able to book and secured slots for the promo. Speaking of vacation I have a former primary and secondary classmate who offered his house in Palawan if in case we happened to go there. If I have the time needed for that maybe I’ll plan to be there not just for one day but for a week or so. It’s nice for him to offer lodging as some all inclusive vacation packages are expensive during holiday seasons. That way we can save our money and use it for other necessities .

:Thursday Challenge - Youth (Children)

"YOUTH" (Young, Energetic, Optimistic, Children, Baby, Education,...)

These are the young energetic CHILDREN in our Church Sunday school and this picture was taken in our camp meeting last December. They were having some games here as they were being taught by our youth teachers. The children like the place there in Villa Dominga because they can run and have games with so much space and fresh air while we were just nearby at the conference hall having fellowship service. We'll go there again on December and my kids are all excited, they're counting the days now!

Comparing Health Insurance

I’m not really into getting much insurance to cover my family’s immediate needs for hospitalization and other emergency requirements. I’m contented with what we have for now which is the government health insurance which is mandatory for all government and private companies. This health insurance is easy to maintain as it’s very affordable and amount is automatically deducted to our salary. I and hubby are both members but when I quit regular employment I stopped paying for my premiums because hubby’s membership covers the whole family. Well this is good enough for us but it’s also limited unlike other insurances which cover a lot more. I’m thinking of getting another one and I’m glad that I can get health insurance lead to search and compare affordability and coverage of other health insurance companies.

:Today's Flowers #65

Click the image to enlarge

This is quite extra ordinary as it's a creeping flower plant that grows creeping around wood or any wall that it's been set up to. It's my first time to see this kind of flower which is one of the flowers grown by Josh' school. I thought that this is an upside down flower of some sorts. I don't the name of this pretty dropped down red flower so if anyone knows the name please help me!

Happy Monday! Visit more beautiful flowers at Today's Flower => here.

Checking Out Prices!

Time is running so fast and another 6 weeks more it will be Christmas and of course days before that will be my birthday also. I need to know the price of some gadgets I want for myself and since I’m not in the mood to shop around the mall I contented myself with surfing for those things. Anyway all of them are always on the net, shopping is no problem these days as long as you have the money. Online stuff are available on many sites and I tried to find my to-buy lists on Cyber Monday Specials. Of course I want discounts and sale items, who wouldn’t? Now I have an estimated amount of all those things, next question is when to buy them.

Taking a Nap to Relax

I had a relaxing afternoon yesterday when I let myself take a nap for about two hours before returning to my online tasks. I don’t usually give myself such pampering but I was on a bad blogging schedule for the past two weeks doing my online works until dawn. It started when I pushed with my bathroom renovation project where I supervised the workers almost full time and let all my works be done in the evening up to midnight and until dawn.

It was a bad schedule for me because my blood pressure went down due to lack of sleep. I wish I could have a vacation package just like the Outer Banks vacation rentals I’ve heard from my friend. But because it’s still school season I don’t have a choice but to post phone any plans I have regarding vacation. I can’t imagine leaving my three kids to my Mom while I’m relaxing on a cottage by the beach.

:PH#185: Veterans/Military

For this week's theme I'm posting one of my shots from Josh educational tour. Picture was taken at Philippine Airforce Museum where many of military pins, badges, patches and memorabilias were preserved. It was nice seeing all those military pins, uniform, equipment and everything about Philippine Airforce.
